Reading of the committal for trial

The committal for trial is a statement of the facts imputed to the accused.
It is transmitted by the chambre d’accusation (indictment division) or the investigating judge, if the investigation has revealed sufficient charges against the accused.
The usher reads it at the beginning of the trial, when all the officials are present. It is the basis of the trial because these are the charges that justify the case coming before the court.
