Caricatures
The use of caricature is relatively rare in courtroom sketches, whose aim is above all to give a factual version of what happens during the trial and present, impartially, those involved. The use of caricatures is often a result of the influence of the media diffusing the works.
So artists such as Riss or Tignous, who work for Charlie Hebdo, a satirical publication, can stress certain features when they want to express an idea about the accused in the case they are covering.
In those instances, the drawings fall into the militant category. But this remains exceptional in the courtroom sketch genre.
