Portraits of the artists

Riss

I was born in Melun in 1966. After studying law, I published my first press drawings in La Grosse Bertha from 1991 to 1992, then in ’92, I took part in the relaunch of Charlie Hebdo, where I’ve worked ever since.
In 1994, I followed the Touvier trial in Versailles for Charlie Hebdo, my first experience of courtroom sketches. In 1997, I repeated the experience at the Papon trial, which lasted six months.
After these two trials for crimes against humanity, I developed an interest in criminal trials, sketching some of them in different towns in France.
The fruit of this experience can be seen in a published selection, Le Tour de France du Crime. Also, for Charlie Hebdo, I have followed several trials, those of General Aussaresses, Fr. Cottard, Bob Denard, etc.
